Naymote’s advocacy programs amplify citizen voices and influence policy reforms to enhance accountability and democratic participation.
We champion increased youth and women’s involvement in decision-making, push for reforms that strengthen local government effectiveness, and mobilize communities to demand transparency and responsiveness from elected officials.
Through strategic campaigns, partnerships, and public engagement, Naymote ensures that governance systems are more inclusive, fair, and accountable.
Our advocacy initiatives include:
The County Accountability and Advocacy Team (CAAT):
Naymote is advancing citizen-led accountability and inclusive governance across Liberia through Empowering Citizens and Communities to Foster Social Accountability and Transparency in Governance and Public Service Delivery. 75 Social Accountability Monitors have been trained and deployed across all 15 counties. These monitors, organized under Naymote’s County Accountability and Advocacy Teams (CAATs), are actively tracking development projects, monitoring public service delivery, and engaging communities in governance processes. The institution is using a range of citizen-led accountability practices and tools such as: participatory planning, participatory budgeting, social audit, community scorecard, citizen report card, and participatory monitoring and evaluation of public services to foster local development and accountability. Youth Legislative Policy Dialogue:
Naymote conducts a Youth Legislative Policy Dialogue to promote the culture of legislative openness and responsiveness in Liberia. Over 8000 youth leaders across Montserrado, Grand Bassa, Lofa, Margibi, Bong and Nimba Counties participated in 50 dialogues held since 2018 and 40 lawmakers attended and spoke at these events.
Young people are actively engaging in legislative advocacy, lawmakers are hosting town hall meetings, producing annual legislative reports to their constituents because of the opportunity provided them through these dialogues. It was through these dialogues, the institution realized that young people need to deepen their understanding of the workings of the Legislature to be able to hold their elected officials accountable which led to the development of the legislative advocacy handbook and legislative engagement guide for advocacy in Liberia. The Legislative Advocacy Handbook is educating citizens on the workings of the legislature and provides them with effective advocacy strategies.
Democracy by Radio/ Media Engagements:
Naymote continues to see the media as a vital partner in creating a more informed and engaged citizenry. By leveraging radio, Naymote is fostering a transparent and accountable governance environment that strengthens Liberia’s democratic society.
The institution partners with five radio stations nationwide to broadcast weekly programs on governance and accountability, reaching thousands of citizens with information on legislative performance, budget processes, and president commitments and performance etc.
Policy Advocacy Initiatives: Advocating for reforms within the legislature, including stronger auditing practices and improved documentation, while pressing for equitable resource allocation in health and education.
Strategic Ambition:
To amplify citizen voices, especially those of youth and women, in national and local decision-making processes, influencing policy reforms and creating accountability mechanisms that ensure leaders act responsibly and inclusively.
